Pregnancy and Working with Nessa Wei: Finding the Support That Fits
Pregnancy can bring gratitude, fear and exhaustion at the same time. Nessa Wei explains how Healing and Soul Alchemy may offer complementary emotional and spiritual support alongside antenatal care.
When the journey to pregnancy has already asked so much
Perhaps getting here has been a marathon: a demanding career, years of jet-lagged travelling, maybe a difficult course of IVF with appointments, waiting and repeated uncertainty.
Now you are pregnant, yet the feeling you imagined has not quite arrived. You may still be waiting for the next scan before allowing yourself to feel hopeful.
Fear of losing a much-wanted pregnancy can be hard to put into words. You may feel grateful and frightened at the same time, with very little energy left to enjoy what is happening.
My own pregnancies were hard. At that time, I did not know the work I offer now. I remember that pregnancy itself can ask a great deal, even when the baby is deeply wanted.
In our sessions, there is room to acknowledge what getting here has cost you. Healing offers time to receive care and our conversation can help you name what needs attention. My intention is to support you in meeting this pregnancy as you are, without adding another expectation about how you ought to feel.
During our session I work with the energetic structures across Body, Mind, Soul and connection to the Spirit, seeking balance and support as you adjust to pregnancy. I think of this as giving the experience room to land within you: allowing your inner life to begin catching up with the change already taking place.
That is an emotional and spiritual intention.
Changing pace and receiving support
If you have been travelling between countries, making decisions all day or living much of your working life online, changing pace can feel unfamiliar. Attention that has travelled constantly outwards may need more room to return to your Body and your immediate surroundings.
An image that comes to me is a golden fishbowl: a small world holding something precious, deserving of attention and care. You may find yourself wanting to be more deliberate about what enters that space, how much you take on and where you receive support.
We can explore what this change of pace means for you. It might involve asking for practical help, giving yourself more room between commitments or finding a few moments in which nothing needs to be achieved.
Your actual circumstances matter; there is no single way a pregnant woman should live.
In my work, connection with Mother Earth is one way of exploring a sense of being held. Through gentle meditation, bodily awareness or an image that feels supportive, we can give attention to that connection. You do not need to have a particular spiritual experience for us to find a useful starting point.
We may also invite support from the Ancestors for you and your baby. I approach this through the supportive connections available within the work, with respect for your experience of family and your own beliefs. What matters is whether the exploration offers you a felt sense of support.
Spirit baby communication
Some women experience what they understand as a connection with their baby’s Soul during pregnancy or in a session. This is sometimes called spirit baby communication. Others do not experience it and that is equally welcome.
My spiritual understanding is that each Soul has its own timing for making itself known. We can offer an invitation and see what emerges, without setting a timetable or expecting a message.
If something does arise, we can explore what it means to you. If nothing arises, there is still room for care, connection and support in the session. The presence or absence of a spiritual impression tells us nothing about the baby’s health or how the pregnancy will unfold and it is not a measure of your bond or your ability to be a mother.
Giving feelings attention as they arise
You might notice fear one week, sadness another or frustration that you cannot enjoy something you wanted so much. These feelings deserve attention in the present.
I sometimes think of feelings left unspoken as knots: experiences we keep carrying without much room to understand them. In a session, we can pause with what is there, find words for it and consider what would help. My intention is to offer that opportunity while the experience is unfolding.
There is no requirement to resolve every feeling before your baby arrives. We can take one thing at a time and recognise when another kind of support would be useful.
If anxiety is persistent or affecting your everyday life, please speak with your midwife or GP; support for anxiety in pregnancy is available too. What matters is that you receive care appropriate to your needs, including medical or psychological support where needed.
You are still welcome to explore healing with me if anxiety persists, as complementary support alongside that care.
Choosing a session during pregnancy
Healing Sessions are receptive and can offer time to rest while I work. Soul Alchemy Sessions are more participatory and may include conversation, gentle meditation or bodily awareness. During pregnancy, I keep the work supportive and do not undertake challenging exploration of obstacles or difficult patterns.
Both sessions are available in person in London and Horsham. Soul Alchemy is also available online. Remote Healing may be available by prior enquiry; please email nessa.wei.uk@gmail.com so that I can consider whether the format is suitable for you.
Please share relevant details about your pregnancy and any advice from your maternity team before we meet. My review concerns the suitability of my work and does not replace medical advice. These sessions are complementary to your usual antenatal care.
